Political Prisoners Jafar Kazemi and Mohammad Ali Haj-Aghaei Executed

Pan-Iranist Party members Hojjat Kalashi and Milad Dehghan who had been arrested yesterday, were indicted this morning.

Political Prisoners Jafar Kazemi and Mohammad Ali Haj-Aghaei Executed According to a pro-government website, they were both MKO members and had been actively involved in the post-election events.

 According to Mehr, they had distributed MKO placards and pictures, had taken videos and pictures from post-election events and had chanted in favor of MKO.

Haj-Aghaei had also been arrested in 1984. According to the pro-government website, he had travelled to Iraq several times in order to reside in the Ashraf Camp but had been denied admission due to his old age.

Allegedly, Jafar Kazemi had collaborated with the MKO and had been involved in collecting money for the organization. Furthermore, his son also resides in Iraq.  

The appeals court had upheld their death sentence.

Kazemi was arrested on September 18th during a post-election protest and was later sentenced to death for anti-regime propaganda by waging war against God and collaborating with the MKO.

 


Four Individuals Executed; One Man Hanged in Public

Iran has hanged a serial killer of women, 3 rapists in Evin Prison and one rapist in the city of Yasouj.

A prisoner by the name of Massoud A has been executed in the city of Yasouj for the crime of rape. He had been sentenced to death for rape and committing a hate crime. He was a resident of Gachsaran and had been convicted of rape with a cold weapon.

In a separate case, three prisoners were executed in Evin Prison. Ghavam Atakeshzadeh, son of Shakour, Mostafa Karimi-Khanghah, son of Mohammad, and Reza Dehghan, son of Hosseinali, had been sentenced to death for raping a teenager. In 2007, they had taken the victim to a secluded place by force using a knife and had raped the individual. The Supreme Court had upheld their death sentence.

In another case, Omid Barak, 24, was hanged in public in Karaj Square for murdering, raping and robbing 10 women. He had confessed to the murder of 10 women and his wife had also assisted him in 6 of the murders. He was declared as mentally stable by the Coroner’s Office. He was later sentenced to public execution for the crimes of rape and murder, and 3 years in prison and 74 lashes for robbing the victims.


Court Hearing Held for Attorney Mohammad Reza Faghihi

The court session was held in the presence of his lawyer Saleh Nikbakht and he was indicted on the charges of insulting the heads of the judiciary and the legislature, and libel in order to disturb public opinion. He denied all the charges.

According to RAHANA, the court’s opinion was that it does not have subject matter jurisdiction over the case since the article had been published online and an electronic publication should be tried in the press court as opposed to the criminal court.
