Pan-Iranist Party Members Hojjat Kalashi and Milad Dehghan Transferred to Ahvaz Revolutionary Court

Pan-Iranist Party members Hojjat Kalashi and Milad Dehghan who had been arrested yesterday, were indicted this morning.


1 Hojjat Kalashi, head of the youth branch of the Pan-Iranist Party, and Milad Dehgahn, a Pan-Iranist party member, were transferred to Ahvaz Revolutionary Court and indicted on charges of assembly and collusion to disturb public order.

According to RAHANA, the authorities raided a memorial for Ebrahim Mirani, the former head of the party, who passed away last year, and arrested Hojjat Kalashi and Milad Dehghan and transferred them to an undisclosed location. more...

Three Attorneys Sentenced to Prison Following the Complaint by Intelligence Ministry


Following the complaint filed by the Intelligence Ministry, attorneys Farshid Yadollahi, Amir Eslami, and Mostafa Daneshjou, have been sentenced to prison for disturbing public opinion and libel.

Farshid Yadollahi and Amir Eslami who were lawyers for many of the cases related to the dervishes in Kish Island have been sentenced to 6 months in prison for disturbing public opinion and libel while their clients have been acquitted of their charges. Mostafa Daneshjou had also been sentenced to 7 months in prison which has been upheld by the Mazandaran appeals court.

The 3 lawyers had filed a complaint against the unlawful behavior of the Intelligence Ministry authorities. However, not only their lawful complaint was ignored but they were eventually convicted themselves. more...

Another Journalist Imprisoned; Ehsan Mehrabi Began Serving His Sentence


1 Ehsan Mehrabi, a 35 year old journalist, who had been detained and convicted based on unfounded charges, was summoned to the court in Evin Prison today in order to begin serving his one year sentence.

According to RAHANA, Mehrabi who has been a reporter for Etemadeh Melli and Farhikhtegan newspapers and has been a contributor to many reformist publications was detained last February. He was later released on a $50,000 bail after spending 3 months in Ward 209 and Ward 240 . more...

Political Activist Saeid Haeri Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison


Saeid Haeri, political and civil rights activist and Committee for Human Rights Reporters member, has been sentenced to 2 years in prison.

1 He had previously been sentenced to 2 years in prison and 74 lashes for disturbing public order and assembly and collusion by the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court. He was released on a $100,000 bail in March after 80 days in prison. He had been arrested along with Shiva Nazar-Ahari and Kouhyar Goodarzi.

Haeri is a philosophy student at the Northern Branch of Azad University in Tehran. He was a member of Karoubi’s Campaign during the presidential elections.

Human Rights Activist Abolfazl Abedini Banned from Face-to-Face Prison Visits


Journalist and human rights activist Abolfazl Abedni who has been sentenced to 11 years in prison, has been banned from face-to-face prison visits with his family.

1 Abolfazl Abedini, a journalist and a human rights activist, who has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for membership in the Pan-Iranist Party, anti-regime propaganda, collaborating with hostile regimes and human rights activities, is currently held in Ward 350 of Evin Prison.

According to RAHANA, he has been deprived of face-to-face prison visits since September when he was transferred to the Evin Prison. Their requests for furlough and face- to-face prison visits have been denied. more...

Prevention of the burial of a Baha’i citizen in Mashhad, expulsion of Baha’i student Naeim Baghi from university and summons of Bashir Ehsani to appear in the Revolutionary Court, are among the violations of Baha’i rights in the past week.

Eightieth Execution in the Past 30 Days


A prisoner convicted with drug smuggling was executed in Boroujerd Prison and thus 80 individuals have been executed in the past 30 days.

1 The death sentence of M.Gh was carried out after it was upheld in the Judiciary.

His charges included transportation and sale of opium. He had previously been sentenced to life in prison for the same charges but had repeated the crime.

Eighty executions have taken place in the past 30 days and a total of 270 individuals have been executed since the beginning of the Iranian New Year.
