Ten Citizens Executed in Rajaei Shahr Prison

Iran hangs another ten people for drug related charges in Karaj’s Rejai Shahr Prison today.

Their names and charges are listed below:

 Younes Aghanejad, son of Arshad, sentenced to death and confiscation of his property for transportation and possession of heroin

  1. Sadegh Geravand, son of Aziz-Morad, sentenced to death and confiscation of his property for transportation and possession of crack    
  2. Teimourshah Karimi, son of Bolbolshah, sentenced to death and confiscation of his property for sale and possession of heroin
  3. Abdullah Hanareh, son of Khaled,  sentenced to death and confiscation of his property for transportation and possession of heroin
  4. Hossein feyzizadeh, son of Soltanali, sentenced to death and confiscation of his property for sale of heroin

He was also sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2007 for possession of morphine in Mashhad but he was rearrested when he was on prison leave.

  1. Amir Ali Mohammadi sentenced to death for sale and possession of heroin and sentenced to 30 lashes and a monetary fine for drug addiction
  2. Safar Karimi-Ganjeh sentenced to death for sale and possession of heroin and to a monetary fine and 10 lashes for possession of opium and also 20 lashes and a fine for smoking opium
  3. Alireza Ramazani sentenced to death and confiscation of his property for possession and transportation of heroin
  4. Mohammad Mehdi Ahmadi, son of Abdullah, sentenced to death and confiscation of his property for possession of crack
  5. Ghasem Asgharzadeh sentenced to death for attempting to sell Marijuana

The legal proceedings against these prisoners were carried out in the presence of the defence attorneys, Iranian judiciary officials report, and add that their application for clemency was refused by the Mercy and Pardoning Commission.


Supreme Court Overturned Farah Vazehan’s Death Sentence

The Supreme Court has overturned Farah Vazehan’s death sentence and her case has been sent back to the lower court for review.

he Supreme Court has overturned Farah Vazehan’s death sentence and her case has been sent to the 28th branch of the court for review.

Judge Salavati had previously sentenced her to death for waging war against God by collaborating with the MKO.

The new verdict will be issued by the 28th branch of the Revolutionary Court.

She is in critical condition since she was on chemotherapy before her arrest and there is a lump in her foot which is worsening her poor health. more...


Some Worrying News About the Appalling Winter Conditions of Female Prisoners and the Possibility of Three Executions To Be Undertaken Soon

There are some startling news about the appalling situation of female prisoners in winter time and the possibility of three executions to be undertaken soon.

The women in Evin  prison are in poor conditions. Some of them in kept in the notorious Block 209, others are being held  in general block, Methadone ward whilst three more are kept in the same room which the prominent Shahla Jahed was kept before execution.

Nazanin Khosravani is being held in Block 209 of Evin Prison. Her family have been quoted saying:” Nazanin has told us that the cell is so cold that it is comparable to sleeping on a sheet of ice”. They added:” We have sent some  warm cloths to Nazanin  but we don’t know why prison staff haven’t delivered them ”. more...


Zahra Bahrami and Fatemeh Khorramjou Transferred to Methadone Ward of Evin Prison

Iranian- Dutch citizen Zahra Bahrami and political activist Fatemeh Khorramjou were transferred to the Methadone Ward of Evin Prison.

Iranian- Dutch citizen Zahra Bahrami and political activist Fatemeh Khorramjou who were held in the General Ward, have been transferred to the Methadone Ward of Evin Prison.

According to RAHANA, this section which is normally used for dangerous criminals, including drug addicts is a closed hall no larger 30 to 35 meters and its prisoners are allowed outside to use fresh air less than one hour per day. They are also excluded from other facilities such as the library and are not given the right to use the phone like other prisoners. They are only allowed cabin visits and are prohibited from face-to-face meetings. more...


Death Row Prisoner Aziz Mohammadzadeh Held Incommunicado

The family of death row Kurdish prisoner Aziz Mohammadzadeh has not been able to get any information on his condition for the past 11 months despite their constant referrals to the judicial authorities.

Aziz Mohammadzadeh has been sentenced to death for membership in a Kurdish group and acting against national security in the Saghez Court. He had gone on a hunger strike 7 months ago in order to protest his sentence.

According to RAHANA, Mohammadzadeh was transferred to an undisclosed location on Fenruary 24, 2009 after his hunger strike. Since then, there has been no news on his condition. His family has no information as to his health or whereabouts. more...


Kurdish Activist Badie Hossein Panahi Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Badie Hossein Panahi, a resident of a city located in the Province of Kurdistan, has been sentenced to one year in prison and is held in the Gharveh Prison.

According to RAHANA, his charges include disturbing public order by organizing protests next to the Sanandaj Judiciary in order to object to the death sentence of Anvar Hossein Panahi. Anvar had been sentenced to death for collaborating with Kurdish groups and his sentence was later reduced to 16 years in prison.


Shahin Zeinali Transferred to Ward 350 of Evin Prison

Political activist Shahin Zeinali who was arrested 2 days before the day he was supposed to begin serving his sentence, has been transferred to the General Ward of Evin Prison.

Pan-Iranist party member and political activist Shahin Zeinali was arrested in Karaj along with Reza Kermani, Arash Keikhosravi and Hojjat Kalashi and transferred to the security ward of Evin Prison.

According to RAHANA, he was supposed to appear at Evin Prison on January 10th but he was arrested earlier at Reza Kermani’s house.  

Zeinali was detained on last year’s Ashura and sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison for acting against national security and membership in the Pan-Iranist party. more...
